Summer will soon be here, and we are looking forward to long days filled with sunshine, beach days at the waterfront, and the many activities that the sunny season brings to Bainbridge Island. Below, we’ve outlined a few of our favorite, not-to-be-missed events.
SUMMER 2019 EXHIBITIONS PUBLIC OPENING RECEPTION | JUNE 29
The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art will publicly present the Summer 2019 exhibitions from 2 to 5pm with opportunities to meet the artists and enjoy snacks. The series includes: Departures and Arrivals: Artists in Abstraction, Joe Max Emminger: The Long Way Home, and Carol Milne: Knit Wit.
GRAND OLD 4TH OF JULY | JULY 4
Join the community and celebrate the U.S.A. with a traditional pancake breakfast, all-day street fair, foot races, a classic car show, beer and wine garden, “old-timers baseball game,” kids zone, and a mile-long hometown parade that begins at 1pm.
FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK | JULY 5
The Island arts scene comes together to showcase vibrant pieces of art in a variety of mediums. Businesses open their doors for good food and company in downtown Winslow—be sure to stop by RSIR!
AS YOU LIKE IT | JULY 11-28
The Bard at Bloedel returns for their 7th annual Summertime Shakespeare performance. This year, audiences will be treated to one of Shakespeare’s finest comedies, As You Like It, which is filled with romance, villainy, humor, and of course, a happy ending.
SUMMER CONCERT: TIM NOAH AND CYNDI SOUP | AUGUST 17
Bloedel Reserve will host Tim Noah and Cyndi Soup for family-friendly song, dance and stories at 11am. Doors open at 10:30am. Tickets are free for children 5 and under, $9 for children ages 6 to 13, and $20 for adults. Picnic lunches are encouraged!
AFTERNOON ON THE TRAILS AT ISLANDWOOD | AUGUST 25
IslandWood’s trail system will be open for self-guided exploration from 2 to 6pm. Pack a picnic and eat in one of the cozy treehouses or spread out a blanket and watch the nature around you. Trail maps will be provided!
