The autumn season brings an abundance of good things: fall foliage, scary movies, seasonal fruits and veggies, and wine harvesting! Fall is the best time of the year for red wine tasting, as it’s prime harvest season for wine grapes like Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Washington state is ranked second in the nation for being the largest premium wine producer, with over 1,000 wineries across the state. Our region tends to thrive on red wines due to our ideal environmental conditions, and what better time to enjoy? Get ready to hover to cloud wine!  Check out these six wines you can find right here on Bainbridge Island.

2016 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon by Eagle Harbor Winery

100% of the grapes in this wine are from Seven Hills West Vineyard and were aged 32 months in 100% new, French Oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Farmstead Red by Bainbridge Vineyards

Bainbridge Vineyard’s first ever red blend, and second red wine offering! Farmstead Red is a non-vintage barrel aged blend of 60% Regent and 40% Pinot Noir, is garnet in color and has light mouth feel with a surprising grip! Tangerine zest, plum and cacao nib greet the nose while tart blackberry pie, rose hips and wild sage meet the palate. Lamb cabbage wraps and herbed roasted root vegetables pair nicely with this age-worthy wine.

2017 Cabernet Sauvignon by Rolling Bay Winery

This wine was made from Old Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in 1979, on the steep, rocky south-facing slopes of Snipes Mountain, widely regarded as the birthplace of Washington Wine.

2016 Syrah by Perennial Vintners

This sturdy dry red wine is made from Syrah grapes from the Yakima Valley, near Prosser, WA. With just a hint of oak, the fruit flavors are pronounced, enjoy by 2023. Goes well with any hearty fare.

2018 Pirate Red by Fletcher Bay Winery

Your treasure has been found with this red wine blend! The high tannins stand up to the high seas and the flavors of cherry, blueberry and blackberry will have you shouting, "Shiver-Me-Timbers!"

2018 Cabernet Sauvignon by Eleven Winery

Intensity. Purity. Purpose. Made to last and built to improve over time, our Cabernet was barely in the bottle when it won its first gold medal. The future holds great things for this wine.
